Sherrie Heywood, M.Ed. ACMHC
In my work with clients, I focus on creating a space that feels grounded, collaborative, and supportive. I draw from evidence-based therapeutic approaches while staying deeply engaged in each individual’s story. My goal is to help people feel understood, regulated, and empowered as they move through life’s challenges. I have experience working with adolescents, women, and couples, supporting them in building resilience, improving communication, and navigating transitions with greater clarity and confidence.

I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based modality that helps clients process trauma, anxiety, and distressing experiences in a focused and effective way. ART allows many individuals to experience meaningful emotional relief without having to relive painful memories in detail, making it especially helpful for those who feel “stuck” or overwhelmed by the past.

Rooted in Sanpete County, I have a strong connection to this community and a sincere commitment to the well-being of those who live here. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Utah State University and completed post-graduate clinical training as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor through Rocky Mountain University. I value practical, down-to-earth therapy that respects both clinical expertise and real-world life demands.

Sherrie's Approach
Clients often describe my approach as calm, compassionate, and clear. I strive to meet people where they are, move at a pace that feels safe, and work together toward goals that matter in daily life—not just in the therapy room. I am especially well-suited for individuals who want practical tools, emotional insight, and a therapist who is both professional and deeply present.

A central part of my work includes honoring the role of faith and spirituality in emotional healing—when this is important to the client. I recognize that spiritual grounding can be a powerful source of meaning, strength, and restoration, and I integrate this perspective thoughtfully and respectfully. This alignment with whole-person care is what drew me to Ascend.
