We will also answer any logistical questions about insurance, payment, and scheduling. If it feels like a fit, we will schedule your initial intake session. If, for whatever reason, it's not a fit, we will do our best to recommend you to another counselor or coach.
If we are credentialed with your insurance, we will bill a claim to your insurance. For private pay, or out of pocket costs, we accept HSA, FSA, credit, debit, or Check. Whatever is most convenient for you.

Here at Ascend Counseling & Coaching, we are kind and compassionate. We recognize that you are the expert on your life. Our role, as experts on the nervous system, is to serve as a guide to help you improve your symptoms. We are very transparent and bring you along to discuss possible options that may support your upward climb.
We will initially schedule 4-6 sessions to get the process started. After those sessions, we evaluate your progress and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. Some people benefit from 4-6 treatments, while others benefit from 4-6 months of treatment. We will give you our best guess on what your treatment plan will look like on your initial visit with us.
You’ll get an initial sense when you speak with your counselor via video of phone for your 20-minute free consultation. After that, if it feels like a fit that we can help you on your healing journey, we will schedule 4-6 initial appointments to get things started.
Counseling and coaching are both helping professions. Coaching is much less regulated and many coaches do not have to have any credentialed training to help others. Here at Ascend, we ensure our coaches are certified and have the skills to help bring about change in your life. Here at Ascend, we do both!
We are! We have found that most people have some form of faith in God or a Higher Power that helps bring about positive change in their lives. And some of the treatments we provide are psycho-spiritual models. We work to heal your mind, body, and spirit from the best of science and God's truths.
We will work together to set goals to reduce your symptoms. This work involves taking a steady upward climb toward a newer, complete you. We will make recommendations on what what we think may be helpful, and you will always have a choice on the treatment path you take to feeling better.
Absolutely. We won’t even talk about our sessions with your pet… if you have one, that is… The only reason we would break confidentiality is if our counselors felt there was a serious threat of harm to yourself or others, or report of abuse to a minor. Life is precious and we want you and others to be safe, especially children. If we are worried about these things, we will have that conversation with you. If, for any reason, you need to coordinate your care with us and other providers, we will ask you to sign a release of information. We won't share your information with anyone unless you sign a release of information.
We work with couples, but generally will not see an individual separate from the couples work, so that there is no question about taking sides. We will be open and direct if one individual in the relationship feels like taking sides is occurring.
Ascend Counseling & Coaching was established in 2021. Some have 15+ years and others 1+ years of experience. However, research shows that counselor humility is a better indicator of counselor success than years of experience. We strive to be humble in our work with you, learning all along the way to secure important lessons of the change experience. We now have over 20 years of combined clinical experience as a team.
We do not prescribe medications. A Psychiatrist, or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, or Family Doctor can prescribe medications. The standard care for mental health symptoms usually involves some form of medication combined with counseling to alleviate symptoms. Someday, we hope to have a prescriber in our office, but until that time, we will recommend one to you.
The earlier on in your struggles you reach out, the better we can help. Don’t wait! You wouldn't wait if you had a physical infection to go to the doctor and get help. We believe the same is true for an emotional infection. We are here to help.
All counselors who practice therapy with Ascend Counseling & Coaching are licensed in the State of Utah, either fully or provisionally licensed. All coaches who work with us have received a certificate from a program approved by the International Coaching Federation.
Ascending a mountain is a metaphor for the counseling and coaching experience. It captures the struggle, the journey, and the triumph you will go through in your work with us. Like hiking and climbing a mountain and getting to the top – ascending to a new you is an experience like no other.
